Day Trip Details
We'll pick you up from your hotel in Belo Horizonte at the scheduled time and head to two of the most important historic cities in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais.
After about two hours of travel, our first stop will be the town of Ouro Preto, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In this beautiful city, founded in the 18th century, we'll enjoy a guided tour of the historic center. During the walk, we'll see standout landmarks like the Church of São Francisco de Assis and the Minor Basilica of Nossa Senhora do Pilar, the two great architectural gems of the old town.
Next, you'll have one hour of free time to grab lunch on your own at one of the restaurants in the historic center. Afterward, we'll leave Ouro Preto behind and head to Mariana, about a 30-minute drive away. As we stroll through this picturesque town, considered one of the most beautiful in Minas Gerais, we'll see several monuments from the colonial era, including the Town Hall, Old Jail, and the cathedral.
After learning about the history of Mariana and its main colonial landmarks, we'll begin the 3-hour journey back to Belo Horizonte. We'll arrive after a total tour time of around 9.5 to 10 hours.
