Options
When booking, you can choose between one of the two options we offer. Both last four hours and include pick-up from your hotel and return transfer, as well as an English-speaking guide who will explain a handful of interesting facts:
Municipal Theatre and National Library
On this tour, we'll discover two of the most emblematic cultural institutions in Brazil. We’ll start our visit at the Municipal Theatre, an impressive building that has hosted performances of great national and foreign artists. Did you know that it is the only Brazilian institution that has its own choir, symphony orchestra and ballet company?
Afterwards, we will visit the National Library, the largest in Latin America. It houses an archive of almost 9 million unique books and manuscripts. Through its rooms, we'll discover the authentic history of Brazil.
Departures: available from Monday to Friday.
Municipal Theatre and Royal Portuguese Cabinet
The tour starts with a visit to the Municipal Theatre, which, since its inauguration in 1909, has become one of the most important theatres in Brazil. The theatre has maintained its artistic independence since the 1930s, with its own choir, orchestra and ballet.
Next, we will go to the Royal Portuguese Reading Room. You will be amazed by its beautiful neo-Gothic façade, inspired by the Jerónimos Monastery in Lisbon. Inside, you'll discover some of the most outstanding books of Portuguese literature, as well as beautiful Manueline architecture, inspired by the old Portuguese buildings.
Departures: available from Monday to Friday.
Pickup
The tour includes pickup from hotels in the south area (Leblon, Ipanema, Copacabana, Leme, Botafogo, Flamengo) and has meeting points in the downtown area of Rio de Janeiro. If you're staying in other areas, please let us know in order to determine a new meeting point.
You can also enjoy this service from the cruise port.
Please note
Please note that the order of the points visited may change depending on the day, weather, and other factors, although the same places will always be visited.
Likewise, the itinerary could be affected during Carnival celebrations. In that case, we'll contact you to inform you of possible changes.
