Barbagia 4x4 Tour
Barbagia 4x4 Tour
At 8:30 am, we'll pick you up at Piazza del Popolo in Orosei and hit the road south in a powerful 4x4 vehicle.
The first stop will be at the Nuragic complex of sa Sedda 'e sos Carros, a famous archaeological site located in Lanaittu Valley in the province of Nuoro. Here, we'll learn about the place where the ancient Nuragic peoples celebrated the cult of water in the Bronze Age, about 3,000 years ago. Their buildings surround a sacred well of dark basalt and light limestone boulders, unique of its kind in the entire Mediterranean.
After visiting this site, we'll continue our 4x4 tour of Barbagia in the direction of the springs of Su Gologone, at the foot of Mount Uddè, known especially for its karst spring. Its waters flow into a small lake of blue and emerald green tones - a beautiful sight to see!
Next, we'll head to the Corbeddu Cave, home to the oldest hominid remains found in Sardinia, dating back no less than 20,000 years! We'll take a stroll through the surrounding area, where very important fossils have also been discovered such as those of the ancestor of the modern deer (Megaloceros cazioti) and those of the Prolagus sardus, animals that are now extinct.
Finally, between 12:30 and 1:30 pm, we'll return to the meeting point in Orosei.
