Are you hungry for adventure? Satisfy your cravings with a trekking experience in the Serra da Cantareira mountains. Plus, there are unbeatable views of Sao Paulo!
Description
In the morning, we'll leave Sao Paulo and set out on a 30-minute bus journey towards the north of the city, where we'll enter the Cantareira State Park; an over 7,900-hectare natural reserve- that's the size of eight soccer pitches!
Once we're among the Serra da Cantareiran mountains, we'll make a stop and find out about the park's history, as in the 15th and 16th centuries it acted as a route for traders between Sao Paulo and other regions in Brazil.
Then, our adventure will begin and we'll start our trek! The first stage is a 1.5-km section of the Macuco Trail, where we'll admire the region's beautiful flora and fauna as we make our way to the Cantareira dam, which provides Sao Paulo with its water.
We'll continue for 3.5 km along the Waterfall Trail, as we do so, we'll cross the River Engordador, where we'll be able to stop and take a refreshing dip. Finally, we'll arrive at Casa da Bomba; this used to be part of the old hydraulic system, but these days it is considered as historic heritage.
Before returning to Sao Paulo, you'll have 45 minutes of free time to continue enjoying the natural beauty and take photos of the incredible scenery.
