If you're in Mampituba, you cannot miss this day trip to the Itaimbezinho Canyon - see incredible landscapes with epic rock walls and beautiful waterfalls.
Description
At the indicated time, we'll meet at the Sítio Cultural Museu da Estância. From this point in Mampituba, we'll leave for the Itaimbezinho Canyon, one of the great natural treasures of southern Brazil!
After an hour's drive, we'll arrive at the foot of the Serra do Faxinal, where the old Tropeiros Route begins. We'll discover the history of the tropeiros of Brazil as we walk the 3 kilometres (1.8 miles) of this trail along the Itaimbezinho Canyon, taking us to the Elbow viewpoint.
From this vantage point, you'll be awestruck by the sheer scale of the Itaimbezinho canyon: towering walls reaching heights of 700 meters (2,296 feet), an extensive 5.8-kilometre (3.6 miles) gorge, and a maximum gap of 2 kilometres (1.2 miles) between its rugged rock formations. After taking in these breathtaking vistas, we'll embark on a 1.5-kilometer (0.9 miles) walk to reach the Vértice viewpoint, where you'll finally see the Andorinhas and Véu da Noiva waterfalls first-hand.
We'll continue the route along the Itaimbezinho canyon visiting the Casa da Vó Maria, a house built in 1945 that maintains the characteristics of the time, and currently houses a craft store, snacks and drinks.
From Casa da Vó Maria, we'll walk back to the starting point of the trekking route. There, our vehicle will be waiting to take us back to the meeting point in Mampituba, where we'll arrive 6 hours after pickup.
