Leave Buenos Aires behind and discover the beautiful capital of Uruguay on this self-guided trip to Montevideo. Unmissable!
Montevideo Transport: Ferry + Bus
At your selected time, you'll set sail from Buenos Aires port on a fast ferry. 1 hour and 15 minutes later, you'll dock at the port in Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay, where a bus will be waiting at the terminal to drive you to Montevideo. The journey by road to the Uruguayan capital takes 2 hours and 30 minutes.
Having reached Montevideo, you'll be left to explore the city at your own pace. We recommend strolling around Plaza Independencia, or Independence Square, home to some of the capital's most emblematic monuments, including the Solís Theatre and the Metropolitan Cathedral.
Don't miss the Mercado Agrícola, Montevideo's historic market, the El Prado neighborhood, the Playa Pocitos beach, and the Estadio Centenario, a must for fans of South American football!
At the end of your time in Montevideo, make your way to the Tres Cruces Terminal on General Artigas Boulevard to catch the bus back to Colonia del Sacramento, where you'll take the ferry back to Buenos Aires.
