Get a close-up look at the spectacular spot where the Amazon and Tapajós Rivers meet on our Santarém Rivers Tour. We'll leave Alter do Chão behind for the day and admire breathtaking views.
Santarém Rivers Tour
Having met up at 9 am at the Tourist Information Centre in Alter do Chão, we'll board a boat and head to Santarém to see the exact point where the Amazon and Tapajós Rivers meet.
During our boat trip, we'll pass by Lake Verde, the Enchanted Forest, where you can take a 40-minute canoe trip, and Piranha Lake - make sure you keep your hands out of the water! To cool off, we'll stop at Moça Beach and have a selection of fruit. With a little more spring in our step, we'll head to Crocodile Lake to spot otters, alligators and turtles.
At around 1 pm, we'll come to Ponta de Pedras, where we'll have a delicious lunch consisting of fish, meat and some typical side dishes. After lunch, we'll head to the Tapari and Negro Lakes, which are two natural treasures in the Amazon that form part of the Santarém region.
We'll then arrive at the point where the Amazon and Tapajós Rivers meet. When we get there, you'll be able to jump into the water and feel the difference in temperature that the different bodies of water have.
If you look closely, you might even see the friendly, pink Amazon River dolphin. After our dip, we'll enter the city of Santarém via the river to explore the pearl of the Tapajós and its history with a 1-hour tour. Next, we'll return to Alter do Chão while admiring the sunset at Ponta do Cururu.
Our estimated arrival time back at the meeting point is 7 pm.
